About the Sportsplex

The Orland Park Sportsplex in Orland Park, IL was established 20 years ago and is a staple of the community. It provides families with a plethora of activities including rock climbing, basketball, volleyball and pickleball courts, group fitness, weight room, child care, and more. In order to keep the community safe, the owners decided to invest in a new roof for the facility.

The Challenge
The PVC roof membrane covering the complex was severely weathered and at the end of its service life. Additionally, the roof deck is made of noise-deflecting acoustical metal so it was necessary to avoid the use of fasteners, which ruled out most recovery options.
The Solution

Two coats of GAF Unisil High Solids Silicone Roof Coating System over a base coat of GAF Multi-Purpose Primer preserved the integrity of the failing PVC roofs. A self-flashing, liquid-applied system meant no fasteners would puncture the acoustical roof deck. The new system created a completely seamless silicone roof that will provide protection against leaks for another 20 years.

Green Accolades

The highly reflective silicone coating provides the following energy enhancements to this 20 year old building along with helping keep the equipment and community members dry and happy.
