Next you learn how to conduct a typical debugging session. Finally, you are introduced to phpunit and learn how to write simple but effective unit tests for your PHP 8 code.

Tracking Bugs

Mini-Course Overview
Bugs that are caught during development and/or test can generally be handled relatively quickly. Once your web application code goes onto the live production server, however, any bugs can lead to a potential diaster. It's imperative, especially on websites that handle a high volume of commercial transactions. In this mini-course you learn about the various bug-tracking systems available. The main purpose of these systems is to manage bugs, including prioritization, developer assignments and progress tracking. The information presented in this course is important for anybody planning to work in a corporate software development team.

Deploying a New Release

Mini-Course Overview
One of the many challenges facing any PHP 8 web developer is how to get your code from your local development environment onto the production website. The big problem is that, in most cases, configuration settings differ between environments. Another concern is that in many cases there is a complex sequence of steps that must be taken in order to get the code to the live site. In this mini-course you learn about the holy grail of development: continuous delivery and continuous integration. You learn how many corporate software departments set up separate servers for development, testing, staging and production. You learn about the blue-green strategy. This course also gives you an overview of deployment automation available through a number of different technology systems. The information presented in this course is especially important for those developers seeking a career with a corporate sofware department.
